The Keftiu Woman

The Keftiu Woman

Aithra of Kydonia came up the river as surety for a treaty about copper. For one year she lives in the palace at Thebes: honored, fed, attended, and watched. Then, she will go home. The scribes write her name as Imila because they can't write it any other way. Khenti stands at her door from the second hour to the tenth. The treaty says she is not to be touched.

This story stands on its own in The Inner Yard. It is the second story in the Imila and Khenti universe, set in Thebes.

The Inner Yard is a romance set in a world built from late 18th Dynasty Egypt. It takes liberties.
